The Prince Albert Alliance Church began in 1965.
Chartered as a Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, the founding pastor
was Ernest Regier. For 13 years Pastor Regier helped to develop the church
into a thriving community institution.
Three other senior pastors have given direction to the church, Neil Unruh,
Darryl Schultz, Brian Brglez and currently Ron Goerzen. Weekend service
attendance averages 400 - 450 people.
Originally
housed in temporary facilities, the first permanent church structure was
constructed on 6th Avenue East (now owned by the Scarborough
Baptist Church).
In the early 1970's a new church building was constructed
at 2777 - 6th Avenue West.
By the 1980's
further expansion was needed and a Christian Education wing was added.
Phase I of ongoing renovations, completed in 2000, saw the sanctuary
refurbished (seating capacity of 600). In 2004 an elevator was installed for
easier access and mobility.
The
church has maintained a community perspective over the years. From
children’s programs, youth activities, Mom’s Morning Out, women's and men's
ministries, drama, and
musical presentations, to refreshing Saturday and Sunday worship services,
the church desires to impact people and help them to become fully devoted
followers of Jesus
Christ.
