The ministry of Stix n’ Strings, formally known as the Mitten Tree, began several years ago through the direction of Pat Knutson and her passion to see knitted goods, crafted with love, put to good use keeping local children warm during the winter months.

A transition has taken place as the original “Mitten Tree at Christmas” has morphed into a year round ministry whose impact, in addition to local, has gone global .

Meeting every two to three weeks, several women connect for a time of fellowship, as well as share with one another their current projects and ideas for future garments.

A small storage area at PAAC is a collection point for donated yarn. Donated partially completed knitted items are unraveled to be crafted into a new item . Even the tiniest bits of leftover yarn are put to use as the stuffing in knitted bears.

Recipients of items locally

* PACI, Queen Mary, Westview & Riverside schools
